Hi, I’m Athina -

I'm glad you're here! I'm Athina Haydous, a Mental Health Counselor who works primarily with adults navigating anxiety, OCD, trauma, relationship challenges, and identity exploration, with a particular passion for supporting LGBTQ+ clients. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from yourself lately, therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of what's going on, and figure out what comes next.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and practical. I take a person-centered and trauma-informed approach, meaning therapy is tailored to your unique experiences, strengths, and goals. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine conversation where you feel comfortable being honest, asking questions, and exploring the things that matter most to you. Together, we'll identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, build tools that feel realistic for your life, and work toward the goals that matter most to you.

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling anxious, burned out, or unsure of how they got to this point. Others are navigating difficult relationships, processing past experiences, working through challenges related to addiction or recovery, or trying to feel more comfortable in their own skin. Whatever brings you in, you don't need to have everything figured out before starting therapy.

I draw from approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other evidence-based practices, but I believe the most important part of therapy is finding an approach that works for you. My style is flexible and tailored to each person's individual needs, and I believe there is room for honesty, curiosity, humor, and difficult conversations in the therapy room.

As a queer therapist, I know how meaningful it can be to work with someone who understands the importance of affirming and inclusive care. My goal is to create a space where you can feel comfortable being yourself without worrying about being judged or needing to explain every part of your experience.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and reaching out isn't always easy. If you're considering beginning therapy, I'd be happy to connect and see if we're a good fit. I offer both virtual and in-person sessions.

Wherever you are right now, we'll work through it together!
