Hi, I’m Maryam -
As a mental health counselor, I believe in each client’s expertise in their own lives and I aim to create a warm, collaborative space where every client can be their most authentic selves. Whether you are coming in with anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal relationship difficulties, grief or general life transitions, I aim to meet you where you are in your healing journey. In our work together, I will support you in understanding yourself, your emotions, your underlying relational patterns and the challenges you face better. I love, and welcome humor and other forms of self-expressions to you to uncover, understand and gain agency over your own story, the story of you.
Additionally, as a native New-Yorker, and second-generation immigrant, I come with a deep understanding of how our identities and upbringings impact us. I bring a culturally sensitive lens to my work, and recognize the complex experiences that can come from holding multiple identities and navigating intergenerational and/or systemic stressors. I draw from relational, experiential and emotion focused modalities and strive to honor the whole you and the web of experiences that shaped you.
